Tommy the Fox

Tom Waits was, and is, a fox (unlike Iggy Pop, ZINGER!). I just wish I had drawn him better. I took care to give him wrinkles on his head; the photo reference of this picture is not an old one.

I don't think it really looks like him. Kind of feels like him, though.

Take care.

Heeeeere's Johnny!

1. Here's Johnny Napalm. Or, well, the very beginnings of Johnny Napalm. The original pose I had for his poster was a back view, so I hope to incorporate this (boom!) head shot into the final design. Uhhhh, I have a lot of thoughts on this sketch. First off: overall, I'm pleased with the look. I did a little bit of caricature and did my best to make him look skinny and unhealthy. This design looks more like the GH2 version, and that makes me sad. I like that they made him an ol' geezer in the third game. I want him to be an old hell raiser. Maybe this will be a vintage poster...

Snack break

I'm taking a break this week. I'm teaching a children's class and will probably spend my free time relaxing (you know, kids have an endless amount of energy, unlike myself).

I do have plans fr the future. I really enjoyed the Clive piece and hope to do a couple more pieces that are in the same vein. What can I say? I love Guitar Hero.

Slow ride and take it easy.

Live in Japan!

The Great Evolution of the Clive Winston Live in Japan Poster

1. This is the first finished product, and what was my original idea. I figured, "Why not finish the poster?" The biggest flaw here is that my illustration does not go with the background; it doesn't fit together.

2. Textless. In order to help the colored Clive flow with the image more, I added a texture to make the poster seem old.

3. The end product. I made up the band names, so sorry if I used your band's name unknowingly.

Render, Surrender

Clive's coming along. As you can see, I was enjoying the soothing sound of Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier's SModCast. I've finally laid down all the foundation colors for the image and I'm starting to render and define form. It's taking forever, but that is what has usually been stopping me from completing digital projects.

Almost kind of done with this one. Wonder what will come next? Maybe Johnny Napalm.

Clive WIP

Things have been crazy on my end of the world, so Clive has suffered a bit. Here's a couple screencaps. He's a bit further along now, but not by much. Hope to finish soon, so wish me luck!

Take care.

Surrender, surrender!

1. The Lord of the Flies, Ba'al Zebub. Not vegetarian friendly, I'm afraid. CLOSE, CLOSE, CLOSE!

2. On the lighter side of things, Clive Winston from Guitar Heroes 1 and 2. Hot stuff. References included: John Lennon, Lemmy Kilmister, Sha Gojyo, and Johnny Ramone. I hope to color him!

Until next time, friends.

Heroes and Villans

1. Happy fish and sturgeon. Happy Fish is singing Pudding Time by Primus. Happy Sturgeon is singing the last 2 verses Of Whales and Woe and part of the first verse of Vernon the Company Man by Les Claypool.

2. Dot for Schro-schro. Dot is a character from an Australian (I think) series of children's films; Dot Goes to Hollywood, Dot and the Kangaroo, etc. He asked for an "adult" version of her, so I drew her as a legal adult.

3. Dr. Doom for Brett. Jesus, this is the worst Doom I've ever seen. Sorry, Brett.

4. Eddie the Head, mascot for Iron Maiden. Handsome chappy!

5. Kontroll Pa Kontinent (The Bride). Inspired by steampunkery and the song by Kaizers Orchestra.

Until next time, friends.

P.S. WHY IS IT ALWAYS LIKE MIDNIGHT OR LATER WHEN I UPDATE THIS THING?!
