Al, Buckethead, and Charizard

1. It's a charizard. On a bike. I drew it yesterday.

2. It's supposed to be me, but I don't think it looks like me. I think it looks like a younger version of my mom. So, maybe I did succeed.

3. The Ballad of Buckethead, Part 1. It's a pretty sweet song, I recommend you check it out.

Until next time, fans.

Miscellaneous Debris

Got a couple of different things for you today, dear reader.

1. Some Primus imagery. There's something really very 1990s-American about the pig face (from Pork Soda); the aesthetic is so recognizable with the time period. The boxing fellow is from Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People.

2. A scared-looking fisherman sort of dude from Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People.

3. Hand practice. God knows I need it.

4. Some really quick observational sketches of dancers. I'm planning to do an illustration involving dancers, so I'm trying to get some practice in. Ballet dancers have amazing legs; I had some trouble figuring out just what the back legs were doing (as you can probably tell from a couple of the sketches). I'll blame it on their anatomy being blocked by costumes. This one is a photo of the sketch page...the scanner was too small to get the whole page and I didn't want to chop up my dancers.

Until next time,

Page of Vocalists

Some of my favorite vocalists. I had them all on a single page, but my scanner is so small ;_; So, that's what the smudges are. I put these into Photoshop and tried to erase the little bits of other vocalists.

1. Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers AKA the Swan AKA MY EPIC FAIL. I really don't like the way this came out. Obviously, I had trouble with the hand (and continue to do so). Face came out wrong, etc.

2. Tarja Turunen of Nightwish fame and probably her solo career. I like how this came out; her facial features are actually a lot sharper than I was able to capture, but there are traces of her beauty in the drawing. She's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen (from an angle...dead on she's kind of terrifying).

3. Marco Hietala at the top from Nightwish and Tarot. He probably came out the best. <3
Les Claypool of Primus and a million other bands featuring the name "Les Claypool" fame, just beneath Marco. This one came out pretty well, considering the actual photo reference I used was a pretty dim one.

I should probably do simpler things; like just doing a page of hands/the planar head.

Until next time, friends.

Vicky, Toph, and lux

Here are some sketches I did yesterday:

1. Lux for practice, done with a pen. Lux is a drummer and I've had the honor of meeting her a couple times. Check her out at luxdrummer.com.

2. Toph Bei Fong from Avatar for my friend Cat, done with a pencil. Blue added in Photoshop.

3. Vicky from the Fairly Odd Parents for my friend Schro-schro, done with a pencil.

So, you can see where the blog gets its name (also, I'm kind of going through an Anthony Kiedis phase right now). I don't have a style just yet; I'm all over the board. I love to experiment with drawing.

Fond regards,
Allison Marcellus

Allow me to introduce myself...

I am not a man of wealth or taste, but I am an art student. I started this blog to put up my WIP (works in progress) over the summer. We'll see how this goes.

I'm an obsessive blogger, but the material on this one will be art-related only. I promise!

Fond regards,
Allison Marcellus
